Israel is developing a system for generating electricity from the movement of traffic on the roads

- Israeli company has developed a new way to generate electricity from traffic on the roads and intends to apply this system on the highways in Israel.

The system operates according to Haaretz reported through the use of generators planted in the asphalt as they create energy when driving it.

Each generator produces 2,000 watts / hour and is stored in batteries along the sides of the road.

This technique has been developed by Israeli company Innowattech, in collaboration with the University of the Technion.

The system that was applied on Tuesday morning, and extends along 10 meters of asphalt on Highway No. 4 looked at the experience as successful with the passage of vehicles and the provision of energy for lights in the streets.

Said project manager Dr. Lucy know - Azoulay "The generators on Highway No. 4 planted 2 inches below the top of the asphalt, and use the weight of driving over her head to generate electricity and that the technology driving the system is based on material help to generate electricity

He added that the program is installed on a single lane stretch of traffic, one kilometer would produce 200 kW / h of electricity, the highway consists of four lanes with the implementation of a system that would lead to megowatt of electricity every hour, enough to supply 2500 households. "

He also stated that this system can be used in electric power plants along the way, and provide electricity for traffic signals, cameras and street lighting.

The system will not depend on the weather and does not require the construction of infrastructure and large-scale
